On Wednesday, October 22, 2025, Besi Nusakambangan Prison became a significant venue in advancing deradicalization efforts through entrepreneurship training. A collaboration between the Directorate of Identification and Social Networking of Densus 88 AT and PT Manunggal Perkasa Cilacap has introduced a bakery training program aimed at helping terrorism inmates learn new skills and build a better future. A total of 28 terrorism inmates participated in the program, where they were introduced to the world of baking in an innovative and engaging way.
Enhancing Skills Through Bakery Training
This training is not merely about cooking; it is also a strategic step in the deradicalization process. By providing practical skills, participants are encouraged to gain expertise they can use after completing their sentences. The recipes taught included healthy rainbow chicken noodles, Swiss roll cake, pumpkin donuts, and assorted cookies. Each recipe was designed to be easy to learn yet still produce delightful results, showing the inmates that cooking skills can become profitable business opportunities.
With this training, it is hoped that participants will leave prison not only with new knowledge but also with an entrepreneurial spirit that can change the direction of their lives. Through this program, they learn about time management, creativity, and teamwork—values essential in the business world.

Why Bakery Training
The choice to conduct bakery training was based on several important considerations. First, cooking is universal and relatively easy to access. Additionally, the food industry continues to grow and offers many opportunities for entrepreneurship. Bakery products, in particular, are widely popular with strong market potential.
Second, baking is an activity that can improve mood and reduce stress, which is particularly important for inmates who may experience psychological pressure due to their past. This activity fosters a positive atmosphere and gives a sense of achievement when they successfully create delicious products.

Challenges and Future Expectations
Of course, every process of change has its challenges. Many terrorism inmates may feel skeptical about their future or doubt whether they can succeed in the entrepreneurial world. However, proper guidance from experienced instructors can provide extra motivation and the support they need.
The expectation from this training is that after completing their sentences, former inmates will be able to start their own businesses in bakery or culinary fields. By mastering these skills, they are expected to contribute positively to society and reduce the risk of returning to extremist paths.
This bakery training is not just a skills program but part of a long journey toward recovery and social reintegration. Through initiatives like this, it is hoped that terrorism inmates can discover a more productive path. With the skills they acquire, they are expected to start their own small businesses and contribute to the local economy after being released from Besi Nusakambangan Prison. As part of the community, PT Manunggal Perkasa Cilacap consistently takes an active role in supporting deradicalization and assisting those who strive to improve themselves, all for the sake of a better future.(pj/mkt)
